During the seminars that I have conducted in the past, I would sometimes ask my participants: “What attitude have you brought here today?” Very often, I received puzzled looks from the audience. Not surprising though, because most people don’t really have a high level of attitude awareness. I'm inspired by Nick Vujicic when I read about his story many years ago. His positive attitude towards life touches me in a great way, and has transformed my perspective on attitude.
Nick Vujicic was born without arms or legs. However, he never let his circumstances stop him from living life to the fullest - he lives a life without limits.
Thank God his suicide effort failed or we would have lost one of the most inspirational speakers in the world! Nick is now serving God in a mighty way as a messenger of hope and is truly a symbol of positivity. Despite having no limbs, he travels all over the world as a motivational speaker and evangelist, inspiring and touching the lives of millions of people worldwide with his outlook on life.
A positive attitude can change a person’s perspective towards his or her circumstances, and Nick’s display of such an attitude is truly remarkable. He chooses to focus on the good that was in his life while going through his difficult years. He said: “You know, I had all these negative things and a list of things that I couldn’t do and I didn’t have - so it’s powerful when you can embrace what you cannot change, accept it, change the things you can change and know the difference between what you can change and what you can’t change. I can’t change my disability, but I can change the way I look at it. There are disappointments, there are failures, but I’m not a failure and that’s what I encourage myself with.” Nick’s circumstances never change but his perspective on the circumstances surely has. Positive attitudes attract positive results while negatives attitudes invite negative results. Winston Churchill once said: “Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.” Our attitudes will either make us or break us. No one can control your attitude but you alone. You possess the power to choose whether to have a positive or negative attitude towards life. Importantly, your success is dependent upon the attitude that you bring forth when confronting any issues at hand. Indeed, attitude is everything!
